All Change at TFM Radio

TFM Radio has a new presenter line up which hits the airwaves this Monday October 5th at 6am. Launching the all star line up is Wayne Allen who takes over the coveted breakfast show on air 6-10am. Wayne is followed by local Boro lad Scott Makin who will broadcast 10am-2pm. Familiar voice, Graham Mack, moves from breakfast to the afternoon drive show. The changes mark the beginning of a major push by TFM Radio to secure commercial market leadership in the highly competitive North East radio media market.

Alex Roland Programme Director at TFM Radio is behind the changes, ‘’When I joined the station last year I quickly identified the key changes I wanted to make to give us a talent line up that would take us to clear market leader. As with any big plan these things take time but eventually all the pieces of the jigsaw are in place. We have an exciting team of experienced and entertaining presenters that will give us a real point of difference against the competition. They all know and love the region we serve and I’m absolutely sure this will be the start of an exciting period of growth at the station.’’

Wayne Allen takes over at breakfast with an impressive career history in radio. Formerly with sister station Metro Radio where his evening show was clear market leader for 7 years he moved to TFM Radio in March 2007. In a mere two and a half years Wayne has 71,000 adults tuning in every week to his mid-morning show, with 20% of all adults aged between 25-44 listening weekly. Wayne is clear commercial market leader in his time slot with a 10.9% share of listening across Teesside County Durham and North Yorkshire.

Speaking about his new presenting role Wayne said, ‘’Since starting to work in radio I’ve always wanted to present a breakfast show for a big station. This is my dream job and even the prospect of rising at 4.30am every day doesn’t affect my enthusiasm for this role.

"I’ve built up a great rapport with many listeners since coming to the area a few years ago and presenting mid mornings; now I need to hope they will join me by setting their alarm clocks a little earlier and tuning to TFM Radio.’’

The station will be backing the new breakfast show launch with bus and press advertising across the region and a sustained programme of community events that will see the new team meeting thousands of people across the transmission area.
