Bauer Media and MasterCard – The Big Lunch

Bauer Media have secured a Radio partnership with MasterCard to promote ‘The Big Lunch’ – a nationwide initiative launched by The Eden Project to encourage local communities to transform their neighbourhoods and stage street parties on Sunday 19th July.
The campaign coincides with a new Mastercard Report that reveals the British public is rooting for a return to a time when community spirit was valued, with almost three-quarters of the population (73%) welcoming the chance to get involved in activities to bring their neighbourhoods closer together.
The main phase of the activity kicks off in the week prior to the 19th with 'The Big Lunch Countdown' from 12-18th July. Magic 105.4, Wave 105.2, Radio Aire, Hallam FM, Key 103, Metro Radio, Radio City, City Talk and Rock FM will all be encouraging their listeners to enter their street to take part in 'The Big Lunch'.
Each station will be running a competition that will culminate on the 19th July – 'The Big Lunch Takeover Day' - with a Presenter and ‘Street team’ attending the Winner’s party in their community. 'The Big Lunch Takeover Day' will also feature “Big Summer Party” tracks to get listeners in the mood for their street party.
The campaign was created by Nicola Griffin and Anthony Mouskoundi at Bauer Media and Ben Reilly, Alice Pott and Amanda Barrett on the MasterCard team at UM.
Karen Stacey, Radio Sales Director, at Bauer Media commented:
“This campaign is a true reflection of Bauer Media’s Radio strategy to connect and engage with local audiences. No other radio network can provide commercial partners with such an unrivalled route to the heart of the communities we serve and I have no doubt our radio brands, and the depth and breadth of their reach, we will make a real difference to the success of Mastercard and the Eden Project’s 'Big Lunch' initiative.”
