First time partnership between Metro and Bauer Media with Pizza Hut to offer Christmas with a difference.
Metro, the UK’s only free urban national newspaper, and Bauer Media have joined up with Pizza Hut to promote its £10 Christmas meal deal and to offer readers the ultimate Christmas with a twist.
From 30th November until 18th December, Metro in partnership with Bauer Media’s Radio stations, will run a competition for readers and listeners to win Christmas in Sydney for five people on behalf of Pizza Hut. The campaign marks the first time Metro and Bauer Media have partnered.
The activity, planned by Starcom, will run in Metro and across The Kiss Network and the Big City Network asking readers and listeners not to celebrate the festive season with the usual soggy sprouts, but by having a Christmas with a difference. The public will be invited to upload a photo on a specially created microsite, built and hosted by Metro.co.uk, showing them having Christmas with a twist.
As well as viewing the online gallery, users of the microsite will also be able to send links to their friends, view the Pizza Hut Christmas menu, book a table and ultimately vote for their favourite picture. The site will also feature social media sharing functionality.
After voting closes at 2pm on 17th December, a montage of the photos submitted and a profile of the winner with a message from Pizza Hut will run in Metro on 18th December.
Throughout the campaign some of the photos submitted will also be used in the adverts running in Metro and on Metro.co.uk. There will also be prizes up for grabs for the voters of the short-listed pictures.
Grant Woodthorpe, Executive Director of Sales, Metro said:
“This is the first time Metro has partnered with Bauer Media and we are really excited to be doing so. As this campaign shows, it offers advertisers something extra and with the prize offered by Pizza Hut I am sure this is something all our readers will be wanting to win!”
Karen Stacey, Broadcast Sales Director, Bauer Media said:
"We are truly excited about our first media partnership with Metro. The Kiss and Big City network with Metro are strong regional media brands with proven engagement with local audiences and will generate a nationwide campaign for Pizza Hut. As this campaign will demonstrate, Bauer Media and Metro Newspaper are able to target specific audiences using a bespoke 'Christmas with a twist' mechanic with an amazing prize. Let's hope it’s the start of many such partnerships"
