Key 103’s Cash for Kids pledged to make a massive difference to 4 year old Harley Slack earlier this week. Little Harley, from Stockport, had his arms and legs amputated after catching meningitis.
Key 103’s Mike and Chelsea in the Morning launched an appeal this week to raise the £60,000 needed to pay for Harley’s prosthetic limbs. Fundraising so far has reached £21,000 and is increasing by the hour.
Mike said “We want to prove that Manchester has the biggest heart. I’m a father of two and I can’t think of anything more distressing than what Harley and his family are going through”.
Mum Samantha 23, said “We have got to get on with it and do our best for our son. The enormity of the future is frightening but we have to face the fact we are going to have to look after Harley around the clock.”
Chelsea said “I hope we can make a difference, no one should have to go through this alone and I know that Manchester will not let this little lad down”
Gary Stein, Key 103 Station Director commented, “We know that the people of Greater Manchester will always rise to a great cause, and Harley’s plight is no exception. There’s been an amazing response all across the city and we’ve had huge support from listeners. Donations have ranged from children giving up their pocket money and Oldham College collecting almost £200 in a bucket; to John Lewis Cheadle pledging £3,000 and a Wilmslow businessman donating £5,000. It’s been truly remarkable and testament to the generosity of spirit that exists in Manchester.”
A team of fundraisers are taking calls from 7.30am to 6pm every day this week on 0161 288 5195; listeners can donate online at key103.co.uk/harley; and cheques made payable to ‘Key 103 Cash For Kids’ can be sent direct to Key 103 Cash For Kids, Castle Quay, Castlefield, Manchester, M15 4PR
