The recent 2009 Newspaper Awards saw Peterborough based Motor Cycle News (MCN), scoop the prize for the “most outstanding use of colour”, and last week, Peterborough Web generously passed on the trophy to its rightful owners.
MCN beat off stiff competition from many other specialist publications, and the Newspaper Awards panel commended MCN and Peterborough Web for the “breathtaking” quality of images, and the use of colour in “drawing the eye of the reader to the important stories”.
Peterborough Web (owned by Johnston Press which has some of the biggest print presses in Europe) produces around 300,000 copies of Bauer Media's specialist titles including MCN, Garden News, and Angling Times each and every week.
Prior to the presentation, a delegation from MCN's editorial, PR, and production teams were given a special tour of the site, learning more about the entire print process, from receiving files, to plate making, to press, to finishing. Colour matching, correct registration, quarter folding, stitching and trimming were just some of the many subjects covered! The tour finished with a celebratory lunch and presentation of the stunning trophy.
