Magic 105.4, London’s number one commercial radio station, has extended its contract with ‘80s pop sensation, YouTube phenomenon and all-round living legend, Rick Astley. After a very successful summer series of shows, Rick Astley will be staying on after his special 80s chart show this coming Bank Holiday Monday. The Rick Astley Show will run every Sunday from 2pm-4pm until the end of 2010.
Rick Astley says: “I’ve been having an absolutely brilliant time on my Magic 105.4 show and I’m really enjoying being in the hot seat as a radio DJ. I jumped at the opportunity when the Magic team asked me to extend my residency in the Sunday afternoon show. I’ve got lots of plans for the show - more celebrity guests, lots of listener requests and plenty more tunes to play!”

We always knew Rick had the potential to be a great Magic 105.4 DJ and hoped he would love being a DJ so much that he’d agree to stay on. Guests including Peter Kay, Tony Hadley, Martin Fry and Carol Decker have all joined Rick this summer. Plans for Rick’s extended show include visits from new celebrity guests plus more 80s classics and the star’s favourite tracks.
The August 2010’s RAJAR results saw the ‘more music, less talk’ station deliver over 2 million Londoners tuning in for the seventh time in its history. It increased its market share and audience again, jumping 8.5% quarter on quarter to 6.4% and reaching an audience of 2.046 million listeners across London, an increase of 2%.
An extremely successful performer, Rick has been playing all summer at music festivals in this country and around Europe. Now, having made a huge success of his first ever outing as a DJ, Rick will be ruling the airwaves each Sunday pm this autumn and winter with The Rick Astley Show on Magic 105.4 FM.
