Bauer Media’s commitment to corporate social responsibility is no more apparent than through the work and community initiatives delivered by Cash for Kids; Bauer Radio’s network of local charities which operate across 21 areas around the UK.

Each Cash for Kids charity was established to channel the caring of the local community into the welfare of their own youngsters. We use the power of our radio brands to deliver initiatives for sick and underprivileged children in our communities, to benefit local children and give the neediest a better and brighter future.

With cash raised locally each charity guarantees that the generous donations made by listeners will go towards bringing hope, healing and happiness to children in their community.
Collectively Cash for Kids raised in excess of £9.8 million in 2011.

Example Campaigns

Christmas Appeals
The Christmas campaign is the jewel in the Cash for Kids crown and concentrates on listeners donating a gift for a local child who would otherwise go without at Christmas. Local Social Services and agencies identify the children most at need, many of whom are in care homes and refuges.
Although all children remain anonymous many letters of thanks are received post-Christmas from homes and Social Services.
In 2011 thanks to the incredible generosity of our listeners we distributed over £5 million in gifts and cash and helped over 215,000 children in local communities across the UK.

Magic Christmas Auction
The first Magic ’12 Hours of Christmas’ Auction was held on 16th December 2011, and was broadcast on AM, DAB and online across all 8 Magic Network stations around the North of England.
Items were donated from all around the UK and were auctioned off on-air from 8am until 8pm. Over £30,000 was raised for Cash for Kids, which was shared out amongst all the Magic areas to help disabled and disadvantaged local children.

Cash for Kids Day
A day dedicated to helping local children, Cash for Kids Day runs on the majority of stations with a Cash for Kids charity, thereby putting the full weight of the Bauer Radio brands behind the campaign.
All manner of local events contribute to the fundraising for the campaign, many often organised by generous listeners, and localised programming content puts the wellbeing of local children at the heart of a fun, engaging day of radio.
Our most recent Cash for Kids Day on 30th March 2012 collectively raised in excess of £400,000.
