Acquisition of Radio Expres

The Bauer Media Group has today announced the expansion of its international radio portfolio, with the acquisition of  Rádio Expres in Slovakia. With a reach of more than 1.5 million listeners per week, Rádio Expres has a market share of 20% since 2005 and is the undisputed market leader.

"We are pleased that we can build on our radio portfolio; we see radio as a core business of the Bauer Media Group, "said Dr. Eckart Bollmann, Member of the Group Executive Committee.

"Rádio Expres is a hugely successful station with a great contemporary format which is especially strong in the key target group of 20 to 49 years. "

Rádio Expres has been purchased from the American media company Emmis Communications who have a strong base in Los Angeles and New York. . The purchase price was not disclosed.

In the radio market, the Bauer Media Group is currently active in three countries: in addition to its share in Radio Hamburg in Germany, the Group has a strong presence in Poland, with leading station Radio RMF. Every day more than ten million listeners tune in to Radio RMF FM, Radio RMF Maxxx and Classic. In the UK we have 42 radio stations, making us the second largest commercial radio provider, a position strengthened earlier this month through the acquisition of Planet RockPlanet Rock.
