Kerrang! Looks For The Next Big Thing

Kerrang! Radio is offering unsigned musicians and bands the chance to get their music heard and start their career in the music business!

The Big Audition is a talent search with a difference. The winner will have the opportunity to play their music to 1.3 million listeners across the UK on the West Midlands based radio station. Meanwhile, they’ll get recording studio time, professional photography for their press pack, a promo video and the opportunity to support Coventry band The Enemy.

Uniquely, all funds raised from the competition go directly to the station’s own charity - Cash for Kids. Kerrang! Radio's Cash for Kids support disabled, vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Birmingham and the West Midlands.

The Big Audition is a competition of three stages: Stage 1 is the presenter clinic. Bands and musicians complete an application form and upload an MP3 of their track at www.kerrangradio.co.uk/bigaudition with their entry fee, a donation of £60 to Cash for Kids.  A member of the panel of judges, Kerrang! Experts and Tom Clarke from The Enemy, who is supporting the competiton, will listen to the track and provide written feedback.

Stage 2 will see 10 shortlisted tracks hosted for one week on the Kerrang! Radio website, where listeners will be encouraged to vote for their favourite, and Stage 3 will see the top 5 voted bands invited to a live final at the Jamhouse Birmingham on Wednesday 20th March, where the winner will be selected by a panel of judges led by Alex Baker.

Alex Baker, Kerrang! Radio’s unsigned bands specialist has previously championed the likes of Don Broco and Lower than Atlantis, supporting their music on his Unsigned Show well before the bands were signed to record labels.

Tom Clarke, lead singer from Coventry’s The Enemy, is supporting the campaign and said: “The Enemy are working really hard to champion new music and when I heard about Kerrang! doing the same with this competition I had to get involved. The Big Audition is about giving new music a kick start!

“If you are a musician, or if you are in a band, get involved in The Big Audition and put your music career on the path to greatness.”

Registration for Stage 1 opens on Monday 28th January and closes when 400 bands have registered or on the 22nd Feb, whichever is sooner.
