Metro Radio Breakfast Banger!
After hearing Steve and Karen announce to listeners how much they’d love to create their own sausage for British Sausage Week (5th-11th November), North East butchers Dicksons sprang into action and invited the team into their South Shields factory to create their own version of a breakfast banger.
Metro breakfast show presenter Steve said: “Both Karen and I love a good-tasting sausage and when we happened to mention that sausage week was just round the corner, we quickly got a call from Dicksons asking if we would like to create our own sausage with some of the master sausage makers at Dicksons. It’s not every day you get that kind of offer so of course we jumped at the chance!”
Steve and Karen got straight to work in the Dicksons factory, deciding on a tasty pork, bacon, tomato and black pudding sausage recipe to form the first ‘Metro Radio Breakfast Banger’.
Karen continued: “I can’t believe a throw away comment has resulted in us creating a pack of sausages with our names on which will actually be going on sale.”
The finished sausages will now be on sale across the Dicksons chain of 22 shops as a limited edition Steve and Karen Metro Radio Breakfast Banger. Dicksons will also be donating £1000 to Metro Radio’s Cash for Kids charity as a result of the unlikely partnership.
