British Actress Vicky McClure has been voted Actress of the Year for her roles as DS Kate Fleming in Line Of Duty and Paula Reece in psychological drama The Replacement.

Critically acclaimed BBC1 drama Line Of Duty also picked up the award for Drama of the Year in heat magazine’s inaugural Unmissable Awards.

Commenting on the accolade, Vicky said: “I want to say a massive thank you for this award. I love playing Kate in Line of Duty and I had a lot of fun playing Paula in The Replacement, so this means a lot. I used to be – and still am – an avid heat reader, Tuesdays was always a special day, so this is going pride of place.”

The awards were curated by heat’s expert entertainment team to reward the finest achievements of the year in all areas of entertainment and pop culture.

Entertainment Director, Boyd Hilton commented: “We wanted to recognise the greatest achievements of the year in all areas of TV and pop culture, reflecting our weekly “Unmissables” entertainment section of the magazine and its podcast offshoot, which is all about curating the very best among all the cultural offerings out there.” He added, “What a year it’s been for Vicky McClure and Line of Duty – the show’s creator and writer Jed Mercurio just keeps upping the ante year after year.” 

Benedict Cumberbatch picked up the Unmissable Actor of the Year award for his roles in Sherlock and his emotional performance as the grieving father of a missing girl in The Child In Time.

On being presented with his award, Benedict commented: “Brilliant! I’m very chuffed about this…  not least because as well as Sherlock, you’re honouring me for The Child In Time, the first show made by our production company, and adapted from Ian McEwan’s extraordinarily powerful novel. So I accept this on behalf of everyone who worked so brilliantly on it.” 

Strictly host Claudia Winkleman picked up TV Presenter of the Year. The panel commended her on being ‘seemingly effortless, naturally funny and lovable in every single TV appearance she does’ and Game of Thrones took the award for TV Moment of the Year for Jon Snow and Daenery’s hook up.

The Unmissable TV Comedy of the Year award went to Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon’s The Trip To Spain. Collecting the award from heat, Steve commented: “We are very pleased to receive this. It was a real pleasure to make, and people ask if it as much fun to make as it is to watch and it is almost as much fun. I’m sure we’ll do another series one day if we can’t get any other work…”

Geordie Shore trounced Love Island to win Reality Show of the Year, voted for by heat readers and A League of Their Own picks up the Entertainment Show of the Year gong. Host James Corden said: “It’s an honour to win this hugely prestigious award. Just to be in the same category as national treasures such as Strictly is a great achievement, but to actually win is a massive triumph for the fantastic team that work on the show. We have such fun making it and it’s a privilege to be a part of it.”

ALOTO regular Jack Whitehall accepted the Entertainment Show award at the same time as picking up his own prize for Comedian of the Year, reflecting his massive sell-out tour, and hilarious new TV shows for Netflix and Sky One.

Elsewhere, grime star Stormzy gets the Unmissable Album of the Year nod for his debut ‘Gang Signs and Prayer’ which the experts praised for its ‘infectious tunes, inventive lyrics and glorious collaborations’ and addictive Netflix smash Stranger Things wins ‘TV binge of the Year’.
