Let us tell you about Cash for Kids, Bauer Radio’s network of local charities.
Cash for Kids is Bauer Radio’s network of local charities, which operate across 21 areas around the UK. Our mission is to respond to the needs of children in our communities, and we aspire to enable all children to live life to the full and achieve their individual potential.
Each Cash for Kids charity was established to channel the caring of the local community into the welfare of their own youngsters. We use the power of our radio brands to deliver initiatives for disabled, disadvantaged and vulnerable children aged 0 to 18 in our communities, to give them a better and brighter future.
Cash for Kids ensures that every penny raised locally stays locally, so our supporters can be certain that their support will directly benefit a local child with a minimum of 80p from every pound donated going to the children.
In 2015 Cash for Kids raised over £17.9 million supporting nearly 600,000 children across the UK.
Win Your Wedding
A competition where the couple who raises the most money for Cash for Kids wins a dream wedding package, Win Your Wedding was run nationwide for the first time in 2015. Lucky couples chosen from hundreds of applicants had to fundraise for their chance to win wedding packages worth tens of thousands of pounds. Delighted Hallam FM winning bride Angie, who raised a staggering £14,731.59 in just 16 days with her fiancé Brian, said;
“It’s been a fantastic journey. At the start I was pulling my hair out but then everything started to fall into place. We are so shocked! All the way here this morning, we knew how much we raised but we just kept thinking, it’s not going to be enough. We can’t believe it. Thanks to everyone who helped out and thank you to Cash for Kids for making it happen. Ahhhhh!”
Win Your Wedding raised a combined total of over £460,000!
A day dedicated to helping local children, Cash for Kids Superhero Day runs on the majority of stations with a Cash for Kids charity, thereby putting the full weight of the Bauer Radio brands behind the campaign. All manner of Superhero themed local events contribute to the fundraising for the campaign, many often organised by generous listeners, and localised programming content puts the well-being of local children at the heart of a fun, engaging day of radio.
Cash for Kids Superhero Day 2015 collectively raised in excess of £605,000!
Big Bake Day
For the Big Bake Day we ask families, friends, schools and workplaces to come together to bake, have fun and sell their creations in aid of Cash for Kids. It’s the perfect opportunity to bring our communities together in a wholesome, fun way that reflects the UK’s obsession with baking – and offers the added bonus of supporting underprivileged and disadvantaged kids in our towns, cities and villages.
Big Bake Day 2015 raised £106,000 around the UK!
The Christmas campaign is the jewel in the Cash for Kids crown and concentrates on listeners donating a gift or cash for a local child who would otherwise go without at Christmas. Local Social Services and other agencies identify the children most at need, many of whom are in care homes and refuges. Although all children remain anonymous many letters of thanks are received post-Christmas from homes and Social Services. John Bishop and Ant & Dec are amongst the famous faces to offer their support to the appeal.
In 2015, thanks to the incredible generosity of our listeners we distributed over £13.5 million in gifts and cash and helped over 325,000 children in local communities across the UK. Mission Christmas will return in November 2016.
