Business Analyst - National Brands & Wave

London & South East

Key Purpose:

To ensure the timely and accurate provision of concise and robust management information (including but not limited to management accounts, budgets and forecasts) to all relevant business users and to support the senior managers of the business in all commercial and financial decisions. The Business Analyst provides strong financial support with an appreciation of the wider business issues (both at Regional but also at Bauer and UK level) and interfaces with BCS on behalf of the business


Key Outcomes:

  • Business operational decisions financially well supported
  • Incremental revenue initiatives appraised commercially, financially and operationally – challenge and support key stakeholders in driving new revenue ideas from inception to implementation (financial ROI plans, controls, reporting)
  • Involvement in wider business projects and interaction with key stakeholders at Regional and Bauer UK level
  • Provision and ownership of timely and accurate management accounts, KPIs and supporting commentaries
  • Accurate, robust and up-to-date budget and forecast information
  • Involvement in ad-hoc financial, process and operational projects

Financial Management

Management Accounts:

  • Deliver timely and accurate management accounts and commentaries on a monthly basis, at all times ensuring the timely completion of all month end procedures
  • Recommend final adjustments to the management accounts following review of the MA pack produced by the Group SSC
  • Effectively monitor, interpret and challenge financial results and communicate any issues, risks, opportunities and trends to the management team on a timely basis
  • Continuously monitor, proactively develop and interpret appropriate and timely KPIs for the business
  • Completion of all year end audit procedures, both internal and external

Systems and Processes:

  • Report on, and ensure the integrity and completeness of all management information contained in the financial systems, including controllable balance sheet items
  • Work with the Group SSC, the wider Finance team as well as the business (where appropriate) to maintain and develop (where appropriate) robust controls and processes

Budget and Forecasts:

  • Manage and own the budgeting and forecast process for the relevant business areas. Ensure accurate and prompt delivery of all stages of the process based on agreed timescales
  • Assist business managers in the preparation and delivery of timely budgets and forecasts
  • Train and educate business managers in the budgeting and forecasting processes and recommend improvements as necessary
  • Promote ownership of budgets to the business managers


  • Manage and control non-core transactions and agree appropriate accounting procedures either locally or with the Group SSC
  • Provision of ad-hoc financial information and analysis as and when requested

Division Support:

  • Provision of financial and commercial support to the business as well as Divisional Senior Management, encompassing all aspects of financial planning and reporting, market and industry insight and commercial review and analysis
  • Support CDs in the formulation of new / incremental revenue and growth initiatives – this should encompass all aspects of each proposal (commercial, financial and operational) during all relevant stages, from inception through to implementation
  • Provide a fast, informed and independent appraisal to management of any major project to be undertaken by the business
  • Respond promptly to queries from business representatives and external parties
  • Promote cross-business learning by working with Business Analysts from other businesses within the Group
  • Ensure compliance with the Group’s policies and procedures, and also statutory, tax, and financial policies and procedures
