You’ll be an established digital specialist and have edited websites or run a section desk on a busy channel already. While experience in biking journalism is preferred, this job may suit digital wizards from other branches of the media looking for an opportunity on two wheels or to join the UK’s leading publisher.
What’s key is that you understand how to use data and insights to make a website thrive. Motorcyclenews.com is the go-to champion of the biking world and has attracted more than 12 million users so far this year to its blend of fast-paced reviews, news, comment and biking gear. The Online Editor will continue to innovate and grow our audience and leverage our huge social media following of more than 1 million fans.
The ideal candidate will know how to drive a CMS as well as ride a bike, and will be familiar with MCN’s unique perspective on all things two-wheeled. Moreover, he or she will be a natural writer, bristling with ideas and display a positive, hard-working attitude.
Key tasks include:
- Leading a digital editorial team of three
- Generating new content and updating existing pages
- Putting data at the heart of the content strategy
- Liaising with commercial and SEO teams to generate sustainable growth
- Handling all social media output for MCN
- Running the video content plan and associated platforms such as Youtube
- Managing newsletters and other marketing initiatives
The role will be full-time starting in February 2019 and based in our Peterborough offices. It is maternity cover for nine months with the option to extend. Bauer Media offers a competitive salary, career progression and a range of benefits associated with working for a global publishing business.
