Cash for Kids

Let us tell you about Cash for Kids!

Cash for Kids is the official grant-giving charity of Bauer Media, supporting young lives right across the UK.

Whether they’re living in poverty, ill, suffering from neglect or have additional needs, Cash for Kids is there to provide a helping hand for every child and young person from birth to 18 years old.

Cash for Kids firmly believes that all children should be able to express their individuality, achieve their potential and live life to the full. The charity works with grassroots organisations up and down the UK, directly supporting families who often have nowhere else to go.

There are 22 local Cash for Kids teams who work tirelessly to support those in need, while maintaining a minimum contribution rate of 80%. Every penny raised within our Hits Radio Network radio station areas stays local, so listeners can be sure that their support is benefitting a child in their community.

The funds raised are distributed as grants to families, community organisations and other charities who apply for help.

Cash for Kids raised £20.4  million in 2022 and supported 489,409 children across the UK. In the past 10 years the charity has raised more than £190 million and made a difference to over 6 million young lives.

Cash for Kids Day

Cash for Kids Day is our annual charity day where Bauer Media’s brands come together to raise funds for the children who need it most.

In 2023, Cash for Kids Day was held on Thursday 27th April with donations funding cost-of-living grants to make sure children have the basics like food, heating and electricity, clothing, bedding and toiletries.

Presenters and supporters across the Hits Radio Network Dressed Like a Popstar for the Day, and the Greatest Hits Radio Network got stuck in the 80s with full-throttle themed day of music taking listeners straight back to the greatest decade.

Over on KISS Tyler West took part in an incredible 24-hour KISSTORY Rave with some special guests including Sam Ryder, Magic Radio’s Ronan and Harriet, N-Dubz, DJ Archie, DJ Pied Piper, Molly Rainford, and our very own Ken Bruce… phew!

Absolute Radio’s Bush and Richie also took on their own mammoth challenge and climbed 1,085m up mount Snowdon, Planet Rock offered listeners the chance to buy limited-edition t-shirts designed by rock legends including Ronnie Wood, and Magic Radio, Jazz FM and Scala Radio gave away some truly money-can’t-buy prizes. Cash for Kids Day activity was supported across several Bauer Magazine titles including Trail, Take a Break and That’s Life.

The appeal made a difference to 13,214 children, meaning that as of the day £2,028,854 total support had been given out by Cash for Kids in 2023.

Mission Christmas

Cash for Kids Mission Christmas is the biggest Christmas gift appeal in the UK, and aims to make Christmas Day different for children and young people living in poverty at this important time of year.

Christmas is a luxury that some families just can’t afford, but by collecting and distributing gifts and cash donations Mission Christmas can make sure that disadvantaged children have a gift to open on Christmas morning.

Cash for Kids gives Santa a helping hand, providing support through community organisations, social workers, schools and the emergency services to ensure that help is given to those who need it most.

In 2022 Mission Christmas collected £14.2 million in gifts and cash donations, which meant that 270,728 children and young people had presents to open on Christmas Day.
