Bauer Academy has a “Creative and Innovative Curriculum, Focused on Developing High Quality Skills Within the Media Industry’’

Bauer Academy, the Government registered training division of Bauer Media, has triumphantly completed its first full Ofsted Inspection. Inspectors cited that learners were inspired and motivated by training delivered by leaders with a clear, strategic direction of learning within the media industry.
The published Ofsted report states Bauer Academy tutors and coaches are ‘highly skilled with extensive experience of working inside the media industry’, and leaders and managers are successful in ensuring apprentices benefit from ‘a high-quality learning experience’. The report goes on to say apprentices develop complex skills confidently and make good progress during their training.
Originally established as a talent driver of a wider applicant pool to Bauer Media, the Bauer Academy tutors were praised for encompassing their knowledge of diversity in the media industry throughout classes. Ofsted Inspectors also recognised that tutors draw on the importance of ethics across the media, such as the understanding of free speech within the law and the dangers of negative or sensationalist reporting. Those with a declared learning disability or difficulties are provided with good support in an inclusive learning environment with high expectations of all learners.
This success marks the Bauer Academy’s first full Ofsted Inspection since it began offering apprenticeship programmes in 2017. Currently, the Bauer Academy offers training to over 200 apprentices from both Bauer Media and other companies including ITV, Reach plc, Immediate Media, the7Stars, Sue Ryder and more.
Learners are studying apprenticeships from Level 3 – Level 7, in subjects including leadership, content production, digital marketing, storytelling, journalism, broadcast production and sales. Described by Ofsted as having “established a creative and innovative curriculum”, all apprenticeship programmes at the Bauer Academy are dedicated to the development of high-quality skills. This is evident in the 97% pass rate of those whom completed their training with the academy and the Distinction gradings awarded to 73% of those learners.
Courtnay McLeod, Director of Bauer Academy, commented, “The Bauer Academy is committed to delivering apprenticeships that make a positive impact on individual performance and wider business objectives. We are delighted Ofsted recognised that we have designed a creative curriculum and our training inspires learners in a culture that motivates people to achieve their full potential. We have seen within Bauer, and with external clients, that carefully designed apprenticeships can be transformational for both entry level talent and upskilling the existing workforce.”
This positive assessment resulted in an overall Grade Two (rating as ‘Good’) across all measured areas.
