Bauer’s radio brands picked up eight awards at this year’s Audio & Radio Industry Awards (ARIAS) at a star-studded ceremony at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

The Absolute Radio Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show won Silver in both Best Entertainment Production and Best National Music Breakfast Show, with Emily Segal picking up the Bronze award in Best National Music Breakfast Show for her heat Radio show. Absolute Radio also scored Bronze in the Best National Radio category.

Sam and Amy from Gem won Silver for Best Local Breakfast Show and Hallam FM and Forth 1 won Gold and Silver respectively in the Best Local Station category.

Finally, Sound Digital, won the prestigious Radio Academy Award, voted for by members of The Radio Academy. Sound Digital is the consortium of Bauer, Arqiva and UTV Media which secured the second digital national multiplex licence and houses six of our digital brands, KISSTORY, heat, Planet Rock, Absolute 80s, Mellow Magic and Magic Chilled.

Top artists, including Magic Radio’s very own Rick Astley, performed live at the ceremony, hosted by BBC Radio’s Sara Cox.  The inaugural national awards were organised by the Radio Academy and supported by Leeds Beckett University and Leeds BID (Business Improvement District).

The ARIAS celebrate the very best of the industry with traditional awards such as Best Local Station; Best National Station and Best Network Music Breakfast Show to Best Podcast and Best Digital and Audio Service.
