It’s a clean sweep for Corrie while Breaking Dad, Martin Lewis and Bake Off are first time winners in this year’s TV Choice Awards

It’s going to be a virtual get together this year, as for the first time, winners of the 24th TV Choice Awards are announced in special online and radio shows.
While some much-loved favourites are taking home more gongs, there are plenty of new winners lifting their first TV Choice trophies.
Martin Clunes has been a big star since before our awards started in 1997, but tonight he celebrates his first win as Best Actor for Doc Martin. Great news on the day ITV have announced the 10th and final series of the hit drama.
There is also a first win for the Bake Off team, who’ve always faced stiff competition in the Best Talent Show category. Bradley Walsh and son Barney are rewarded for their US travel series Breaking Dad, which viewers have taken to their hearts. And the man who has helped the nation with their finances in the most challenging times, Martin Lewis, is a very worthy winner.
Last year’s Best Comedy winner Ricky Gervais’s outstanding After Life makes it two in a row, as does our Best Actress winner, Jodie Comer.
And while perennial champions like I’m A Celebrity…, Saturday Night Takeaway and This Morning add to their bulging trophy cabinets, the biggest winner of the night is Coronation Street.
In the year that the soap stalwart celebrates its 60th anniversary, all three of our soap prizes are headed to Weatherfield, as Jack P Shepherd and Shelley King win the acting prizes and the show is named Best Soap.
A new style of presentation for this year, hosted by Greatest Hits Radio’s Simon Mayo, allows fans to join in the excitement of seeing the winners presented with their awards for the first time.
Cash for Kids is the official charity of the TV Choice Awards 2020.
