Launches to celebrate comedians 60th Birthday
Absolute Radio is celebrating presenter Frank Skinner’s 60th birthday by dedicating an entire pop-up radio station to the much loved comedian, marking a first for the multi-media brand. ‘Absolute Radio Frank’ will temporarily replace digital decade station Absolute Radio 90s, on all its platforms, to feature Skinner’s regular weekly show, plus new exclusive content as well as the very best from his seven years at the station.
The Frank Skinner show, which can be heard every Saturday morning on main station Absolute Radio, will be networked to kick off the schedule on ‘Absolute Radio Frank’ from 9am on Saturday 28th January (Frank’s actual birthday). Highlights will include a two-hour interview special with the man himself, hosted by friend and fellow West Brom fan Adrian Chiles who will take a look back at Skinner’s life and career. Programming will continue on until 6am on Monday 30th January before the station reverts back to Absolute Radio 90s.

The launch will see the development of an original logo and temporary rebrand of Absolute Radio 90s web, mobile app and social channels plus new scrolling text for DAB radio dials. Furthermore, in a move to extend Bauer Media’s targeted advertising ‘In-stream’ proposition, consumers who log-in and listen to ‘Absolute Radio Frank’ will hear fewer adverts and get even more bonus Frank Skinner content.
Listen to Absolute Radio Frank on digital DAB radio, online or via the Absolute Radio mobile app. All content will be available to listen to on-demand via bespoke podcasts downloadable from the app and from www.absoluteradio.co.uk.
Frank Skinner can be heard at his usual slot every Saturday on Absolute Radio from 8-11am.
