Bauer awards roundup Jan-Feb 2019

Awards season has well and truly kicked off with a multitude of wins and award nominations (35 so far!)  teams across Bauer Media. This is testament to the great work carried out every day by our people striving to do great work.

Bauer Media’s successes in awards in January and February 2019:

IRN Awards

Bauer Radio News teams from across the UK were nominated in every single category this year. This is a huge achievement and marks the most nominations ever received from the highly coveted Independent Radio News awards.

The teams’ hard work and commitment to capturing engaging news were celebrated on the night as they took home a record number of awards. West FM picked up News Team of the Year (Under 1m TSA), Bryan Rutherford was named Reporter of the Year (Under 1m TSA), Radio Forth’s Take the Time campaign received the Campaigning Journalism Award and Clyde 1 were awarded Best Sports Coverage.

Charlotte Murphy from CFM and Rock FM was named Newsreader of the Year (Under 1m TSA) and Hits Radio Manchester’s Abi Smitton won the incredibly tough Newcomer of the Year category.

Rosanna Austin was runner-up in the larger Reporter of the Year category and Radio City’s Paul Doward was runner-up in the Interview of the Year.

Finally, Andy Marsh from the recently acquired Lincs FM picked up the most sought after IRN Gold Award. To see the full list and details of all nominees, visit: irnawards.co.uk

Campaign Media Awards

Bauer Media Advertising have been shortlisted in two categories for these awards which place a prominence on the relation between ideas, innovation and strategic thinking. The hugely successful Grazia & Boots No7 campaign has been nominated in the Fashion & Beauty product sector category for the. Plus the ‘Take the Power Back’ campaign which was run with Smart Energy has received a nomination in the Corporate & Utilities product sector category.

UK Sponsorship Awards

A number of teams from Bauer Media Advertising have been shortlisted across three categories in these major advertising industry awards. Absolute Breakfast with Wickes plus Absolute Radio with The Story Lab and Carat are finalists in the Print & Radio category. KISS Ibiza with Carphone Warehouse and Blue 449 have also received a nomination for the Best Use of Mobile in a Campaign category, as well as Magic Breakfast with Benson for Beds and RP2 who were shortlisted in the Print, Radio and Film category.

Music Week Awards

Bauer Media stations and shows have been shortlisted in both radio categories at the Music Week Awards 2019. Danielle Perry, Tom Cotton and Tim Vernon of Absolute Radio’s Sunday Night Music Club and Alex Baker’s Fresh Blood from Kerrang! Radio have all been nominated for Best Radio Show. Plus Absolute Radio and Planet Rock are also finalists in the Best Radio Station category.

Absolute Radio has a long-standing partnership with the Isle of Wight Festival which has been also been shortlisted in the Festival of the Year category.

The awards ceremony takes place on 9 May 2019 in London, where all winners will be revealed.

Country Music Associaton International Awards

Stuart Banford, presenter of Downtown Country ‘Country Roads’ drive time show has been nominated for the International Country Broadcaster Award. The awards are hosted by the International Country Music Association and this category particularly recognises the achievements of someone outside of the US who has made important contributions for the development of country music across their country.

Jazz FM also released the shortlist for the sixth year of the Jazz FM Awards. Recognising the best emerging new artists, contemporary icons and established stars from across the worlds of jazz, soul and blues. The winners will be announced at the ceremony on Tuesday 30th April, coinciding with International Jazz Day.
