Jenny Powell and Debbie Mac to join Greatest Hits Radio

Greatest Hits Radio is set to welcome two brand new additions to its line-up in the New Year. Presenters Jenny Powell and Debbie Mac are both set to come on board to present a new Weekend Breakfast Show and weekday afternoon show respectively.

TV host Jenny will be known to many listeners for presenting some of the most iconic programmes on British TV including Top of Pops and the Wheel of Fortune. She’ll now be joining Greatest Hits Radio from the 9th January for Saturday and Sunday mornings, waking up the nation from 6am-10am with her infectious energy, fun features and the biggest songs of the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Debbie Mac, who has guest hosted on the station after moving on from sister station Hits Radio, now takes a permanent role on daytimes. The much-loved broadcaster will be entertaining listeners from 1-4pm on weekdays.

Speaking about the new appointments, Greatest Hits Radio’s Content Director, Andy Ashton added “Our new schedule is driven by passionate presenters playing an amazing variety of Greatest Hits that you know and love. Both Jenny and Debbie are fantastic broadcasters who bring with them a big burst of energy to kick off 2021 in the right way.”

Speaking about joining the station, Jenny Powell said “Greatest Hits Radio has been a permanent staple in my household over the last few months, brightening up the gloom with its brilliant playlist of the very best 70s, 80s and 90s artists and some lovely familiar voices. I’m so thrilled to be able to join the team and start to deliver some more of the ‘good times’. Why not make your new year’s resolution to try something new and join us? As The Pointer Sisters sang… I’m So Excited!!”

The new 2021 schedule, which will commence on Monday 4th January, also brings a new show from Andy Crane. He moves to a new late-night programme from 10pm to 1am from Sunday through to Thursdays while Alex Lester returns to overnights on the station from 1am-6am on weekdays.

Greatest Hits Radio recently launched in even more areas of the UK, bringing nationally known presenters including Simon Mayo, Mark Goodier, Janice Long, Paul Gambaccini and Pat Sharp, alongside its playlist of the biggest songs of the 70s, 80s and 90s to more corners of the country. About Jenny Powell: Jenny’s illustrious television career began when she was selected to present the popular BBC cult music programme “No Limits”. After the series finished, Jenny then moved to Saturday morning television for children, first co-presenting “UP2U”, ITV’s “Ghost Train” and “Gimme 5”.

She was also a presenter of “Top of the Pops”, was the hostess on ITV’s version of “Wheel of Fortune”, and a regular “Loose Women” panellist. Viewers will also know Jenny from Channel 4’s “Brass Eye”, “Soap Fever”, “Live Talk”, “Getaway” and “Our House” for UKTV Style. She was a presenter on BBC One’s “To Buy or Not to Buy”, and presented on ITV’s “Bingo Night Live”.

In the last decade, she has presented the quiz show, “Wordplay”, was a contestant on Channel 4’s “Celebrity Come Dine with Me” and BBC One’s “Celebrity Masterchef”. In 2012 and 2013, she appeared in two episodes of ITV2’s “Lemon La Vida Loca”.

In 2005, she was even one of the competitors in the ITV reality show “Celebrity Wrestling”, competing under the name The Avenger. As well as regular features on “Daybreak”, her own show “Jenny Powell’s Luxury Uncovered”, “Food and Wine Adventures” for the Travel Channel and hosting Vintage TV’s “Ladies Lounge”. In 2017, Jenny found herself again at the forefront of primetime TV co-hosting the new ITV1 Game Show “BigHeads” alongside Jason Manford and Kriss Akabusi. 

Recently, Jenny has been hosting the Hot Mess Mums podcast which is increasingly popular and available on all platforms. She has also been interviewing Hollywood stars such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone for An Experience With. Next up is Mel Gibson – now next November.

Jan. 2021 marks her 35th anniversary of her first appearance on television (NO LIMITS was on 14th Jan 1986).

Born in Essex, her family originates from South Africa. She attended the famous Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, where she fuelled her passion and talent for dancing and performing. She spends her spare time keeping fit, staying healthy and eating as clean as possible.

Jenny resides in Cheshire, and also enjoys spending time with her two daughters Constance and Pollyanna, fiancée Martin Lowe, and her rescue dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross named Elsa.
