Magic Radio sign Melanie C

Bauer Media continues to invest in the Magic brand with the addition of former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm, aka Melanie C as she joins the brand to host its Sunday morning request show until April.

She’ll give control of the music she plays to her listeners, playing songs you love from the likes of Queen to Adele, Michael Bublé to Marvin Gaye, Take That to ABBA, George Michael to Bruno Mars and beyond. In between the requests Melanie will share stories from her time with the Spice Girls, to launching her solo career and taking to the screen and stage.

Magic Radio Content Director Tony Moorey said “It’s a joy listening to Melanie’s passion for the songs that our listeners love listening to the request show.”

After six years and three albums the Spice Girls sold over 100 million records worldwide. Melanie went onto launch her solo career by releasing a duet with Bryan Adams, her debut album Northern Star went triple platinum and she founded her own record company called Red Girl Records.

When Melanie isn’t focusing on music, she is proving what a talented broadcaster she is. Melanie has appeared on The X Factor Australia, Bring the Noise and Asia’s Got Talent as a mentor and judge. Proving she is up for a laugh she has also appeared on several episodes of Bo Selecta and took on the role of guest host on Channel 4’s The Friday Night Project.

Melanie was first introduced to the Magic audience in October 2016 when she hosted a week-long takeover on the brands new digital station Magic Chilled. She went on to co-host ‘The Magic of Christmas’ live music event at the London Palladium with breakfast presenter Nick Snaith, for an evening featuring live performances from Emile Sandé, Rick Astley Beverley Knight, Jack Savoretti and more.  She will be hosting the Request Show from February to April whilst Kim Wilde is away.

Melanie C’s arrival follows a series of top talent hires across the Magic Radio Network, including Mel Giedroyc (Great British Bake Off, BBC1) who hosts a new Saturday lunchtime show on Magic Radio. Mellow Magic see’s Patsy Kensit and John Hannah (Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Mummy) play Timeless Relaxing Classics, while West End star and former Sugababe Jade Ewen hosts weekends on Magic Chilled.

Hear Melanie C every Sunday on Magic Radio from 10-1pm from 5th February – 23rd April 2017 www.magic.co.uk
