Magic Radio to flip playlist to 100% Christmas in partnership with Sky Cinema

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and with just one month to go until Christmas Day, Magic Radio has announced that as part Bauer Media’s product innovation plans, it will be switching its playlist to 100% Christmas music until midnight on the 27th December. Magic 100% Christmas is presented by Sky Cinema with Universal Parks & Resorts confirmed as travel partners.

National radio station, Magic reaches a distinct audience of 3.5 million listeners every week, and will switch to a full festive playlist from 25th November.  Magic 100% Christmas presented by Sky Cinema will aim to drive audiences to ‘discover a new premiere every day this Christmas’ on the platform through branded activity including: sponsorship of Magic 100% Christmas on radio, online and as Media Partner for ‘Magic of Christmas, with new film Last Christmas’ live event.

Universal Orlando Resort is set to be the official travel partner for Magic 100% Christmas -taking the much-loved Breakfast show with Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott to Orlando, broadcasting live in a one-off special Saturday show in addition to promotions across radio, online and social – driving audiences to find out about Universal Orlando’s Endless Summer Resort.

Magic 100% Christmas was announced at The London Palladium this afternoon (Sunday), at a special event hosted by Magic Radio. ‘Magic of Christmas, with new film Last Christmas’ saw performances by Robbie Williams, Will Young, Simply Red, Jack Savoretti and Beverley Knight. Magic Breakfast presenter Harriet Scott was joined on hosting duties by Martin and Shirlie Kemp, who also performed a festive song for the sold-out audience.

Magic 100% Christmas promises the most-loved Christmas pop hits from the last fifty years – with an emphasis on 80s and 90s classics such as WHAM!, ‘Last Christmas’, The Pogue’s ‘Fairytale of New York’, Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want Christmas’, Elton John’s ‘Step into Christmas’ and Paul McCartney’s ‘Wonderful Christmastime’.

The switch will take place at 9am tomorrow (Monday 25th November), with Magic of Christmas performer, Robbie Williams heading into the studio to press the button to turn the station, 100% Christmas.

Discussing the commercial partnerships for Magic 100% Christmas, Simon Kilby Chief Revenue Officer Bauer Media said, “Magic 100% Christmas delivered phenomenal results for us last year – delighting both audiences and partners alike. We are going bigger and better this year and very excited to have Sky Cinema presenting Magic 100% Christmas once more, with Universal Orlando Resort joining as travel partners. Together, we’ll be keeping the ‘magic’ of Christmas alive all through December!”

On the partnership, Universal Parks and Resorts’ Vice President & Managing Director of Sales and Marketing in the UK, Alison Montague, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Magic once again, after previously working with them on the relaunch of the Magic Breakfast Show in 2017.

“Universal Orlando is well underway with Christmas activity this year.  Our Holidays events featuring a live retelling of The Grinch, Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring a host of cinema’s most beloved characters. We are looking forward to hosting Ronan and Harriet in Orlando for a fun-filled live broadcast as we spread the festive cheer for Magic listeners.”

In 2018, Magic Radio was the first UK radio station to ever switch their playlist to non-stop Christmas music.  The move led to record listening figures with the highest audience in the Magic brand’s 20 year history.

The songs you can expect to hear on the station are as follows:
