- Exclusive direct-to-fans package on sale on March 15
- May issue of Q Magazine to feature 1975 on cover
- Both editions to be promoted on Absolute Radio
LONDON, March 15, 2016: Q Magazine, Britain’s best-selling modern music magazine, has joined forces with The 1975 to create a unique exclusive package that will be made available directly to the band’s fans.
The package includes a special edition of Q Magazine - The 1975 Q Collector’s Edition - featuring an exclusive coverline-free cover designed in conjunction with the band themselves.
The set will also be accompanied by a beautifully produced one-sided 7-inch single on clear vinyl featuring ‘A Change Of Heart’, a track taken from their epic new album, ‘I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’ (Dirty Hit/Polydor), which has topped the album charts in the UK and the US. This 45 is housed in a specially produced, heavyweight white sleeve embossed with the band’s logo.
There are only 5000 copies of ‘The 1975 Q Collector’s Edition’ for sale, meaning that this copy of Q is indeed one of the rarest in the magazine’s entire history. The entire package will cost £9.99 and will be made available exclusively via The 1975’s own website: http://the1975.com/store
Matt Mason, Q Magazine, Senior Editor said: “People have talked about the revival of vinyl in the last few years, but that has often revolved around albums rather than singles. We’re thrilled to have worked with The 1975 on this special package. They’re a band that are genuinely pushing music forward, but this is a way of restating how great the 7-inch format actually is. It also creates a new way of actually getting something totally unique to those that matter most: the fans themselves.”
The 1975’s frontman Matt Healy said: “Q is an institution and we would never have gotten the opportunity to do this on the first record. We like anything we view as a vehicle to give something back to our fans and this was an opportunity to do something special. That's why we've designed our own version of the cover and we're adding some music to it.”
As well as this special bundle, The 1975 appear on the May issue of Q Magazine which comes with an exclusive CD entitled ‘New Adventures In Sound’. The CD has been compiled by the Q editorial team and features 15 emerging acts that they are championing editorially such as Sunflower Bean, Thomas Cohen, Hinds, Yak and more.
Matt Mason adds: “New music is vital to Q and we’re really proud to have assembled a collection of artists that we really believe in. There will be more new music projects coming out of Q in the next few months.”
Both ‘The 1975 Q Collector’s Edition’ and the Q Magazine May issue will also benefit from an extensive cross-platform marketing campaign involving social media and Absolute Radio’s Sunday Night Music Club in association with Q magazine which is presented by Danielle Perry and has recently been nominated for a Music Week award.
The 1975 Q Collector’s Edition and the Q Magazine May issue are both available from March 15. Order the May issue here: http://bit.ly/QMay16MD
