TO LAUNCH 2019 FINDINGS AT THE GREAT ESCAPE  

The Great Escape has today revealed Lewis Capaldi as the first Spotlightact to play next year’s internationally renowned festival, as well as the return of The Great Escape Beach, AIM House at The Great Escape Conference and Attitude Is Everything’s plans for next year’s festival. 

The Great Escape, the festival for new music, will be kicking off festival season by playing host to over 450 up and coming artists and music-led convention across 35 walkable venues from 8-11 May 2019 in Brighton, England. With 400 acts still be to announced, there’s much more to come for The Great Escape 2019! Tickets start from £60 and are on sale here.

SPOTLIGHT – LEWIS CAPALDI

The Great Escape is home to some of the world’s best new music showcases, debuting artists and springing them forward on a path of success. The Spotlight shows play host to artists who have grown alongside the festival who are now taking their own international lead across the charts. Lewis Capaldi has been revealed as the first Spotlight show for 2019, taking place at Brighton’s Dome and presented by The Great Escape and The Box Plus Network. It’s been a whirlwind year for vocal powerhouse Lewis Capaldi, who performed at The Great Escape as a rising star in May 2018. Following self-released single ‘Bruises’ which rapidly reached over 25 million streams on Spotify claiming the most-ever plays from an unsigned artist – Capaldi has yet to stop impressing the world, receiving a prestigious nomination for BRIT’s Critic Choice. Clash comment that “he seems able to find the beauty in the everyday, to translate deeply personal experiences into something universal.”

Capaldi said, “Absolutely over the moon to come back and play The Great Escape this year! Had an amazing show last time and hopefully things will be the same this time around!”

THE GREAT ESCAPE BEACH

The Beach is back! Following a hugely successful launch in 2018, Brighton Beach will once again play host to the buzzing 2000-capacity site. Boasting three live music venues, bars, delicious food stalls, hang out areas and pop up performance spaces, The Great Escape Beach is set to be bigger and better than before.

Festivalgoers will be treated to music curated by the greatest musical tastemakers around, with performances from the very best emerging talent. This year Idles, Nao, Dream Wife, Magic Gang and Amyl & The Sniffers delivered just some of The Beach’s most sizzling sets on Brighton’s waterfront. Curators and the next wave of artists for 2019 are set to be announced in the New Year.

TGE 2019 CONFERENCE NEWS – THE FESTIVAL FOR NETWORKING

The Great Escape and Association of Independent Music are pleased to announce that AIM House will be returning to The Great Escape Festival 2019. Based at The Queens Hotel, AIM House is a hub and home for the independent music community. The Association of Independent Music will be working with cutting-edge independent record labels and music companies to deliver a programme packed full of interviews, workshops, after parties, ‘safe tents’, networking drinks and much more after a successful launch in 2018. AIM Lates will also be returning to Queens on Thursday & Friday with a cutting edge DJ & label line-up. 

AIM said, “Last year AIM House at The Great Escape brought to life everything that is exciting and vibrant about the UK’s independent music sector. This year AIM House will be back bigger and better than ever, bringing together and representing the creative, entrepreneurial and innovative community that is emblematic of what it is to be independent in music in the 21st century.”

ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

Music charity Attitude Is Everything recently unveiled NEXT STAGE – a ground breaking initiative to empower Deaf and disabled artists. Launching with an extensive survey, NEXT STAGE aims to build a comprehensive network of artists musicians, songwriters, DJs and music curators. Self-identifying Deaf or disabled individuals can take part in the survey, as well as music makers with a condition or impairment that impacts their daily life, with initial findings to be presented at The Great Escape festival in May 2019.

THE JURY’S INN BRIGHTON WATERFRONT

The Great Escape announced recently that The Jury’s Inn Brighton Waterfront will be the official delegate and conference hotel for the 2019 festival. Next year, The Great Escape’s core music conferences and networking events will take place under one roof, from Wednesday 8 May – Saturday 11 May 2019. Hotel rooms at the Jury’s Inn Brighton Waterfront are available now and can be booked via The Great Escape website.
