This Friday 27^th of May marks the tenth annual Cash for Kids Day and Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Radio are working together to help raise vital funds for vulnerable UK families in need right now.

Due to the increase in the cost of living, many families are now reaching crisis point and are facing the very real choice of whether to ‘heat or eat’. The Cash for Kids Day appeal responds directly to their needs, raising money in order to support families with the very real and immediate need to pay for their energy bills, food costs, toiletries, clothing, and other basic essentials for their children.

Across the month already, Hits Radio has been encouraging listeners to participate in the 5K a day in May, a fundraising initiative which you can tackle however you choose – be it walking, running, swimming, cartwheeling, or hopping. Setting their own challenge and encouraging friends, family and colleagues sponsor them, it’s been a great way to get people up and moving whilst making a real difference.

This Friday sees the Hits Radio presenters take up the challenge in their own creative ways; Breakfast host Fleur East and her team will be walking up Snowdon while weekend host Sam Thompson will be taking the challenge to new heights and tackling his fear by jumping out of a plane. Drivetime hosts Gemma Atkinson and Mike Toolan will meanwhile take on the 5K at Blackpool pier and then up to the top of Blackpool tower.

Over at Greatest Hits Radio, fan favourite the ‘All Day All Request Friday’ returns with listeners encouraged to donate to Cash for Kids in return for the opportunity to request a track. Building on the success of Simon Mayo’s iconic show feature, and the first All Day All Request Friday in 2021, it shall also play-out across the Greatest Hits Radio Network in Scotland for the first time.
