Bauer Media Audio President Paul Keenan: Radio and Digital Innovation Matter Now More Than Ever

Bauer Media President of Audio Paul Keenan spoke at Radio Days Ireland today, hailing the future of radio as being digital and calling for the industry to prioritise innovation and product development. At the same time he announced that Absolute Radio is unveiling the next step in its digital audio innovation product strategy with Absolute Radio 20s launching next week, online.

Dedicated to brand new music released this decade, the new station will join the network’s much-loved family of eight stations, aimed at listeners who crave even more from their favourite radio station. Audiences can expect songs from the likes of Billie Eilish, Haim, Lewis Capaldi, Bombay Bicycle Club and many more from this exciting new station that will live exclusively online.

Absolute Radio will now have 9 stations, more than 100,000 logged in listeners every week, and more than 4.9 million weekly listeners. The launch will provide even greater choice and a tailored listening experience for its audiences who seek more from the brands they love.

Paul Keenan, President of Audio, Bauer Media Audio commented: “We must continue to reinvent how we work with a clear focus on innovation. With the growth of digital radio, and the migration of audiences onto new smart, connected devices, we must leverage our collective understanding of the power of sound to further help brands and marketers reach audiences effectively”.

He continued, “Connected radio in combination with DAB distribution has enabled us to extend our reach, so we have been able to offer listeners more choice, allow listeners more control and enable the super fans an unadulterated, pure experience. Absolute Radio 20s is a perfect example of this”.
