Dee Ford appointed CBE for Services to Radio

Dee Ford, Group Managing Director, Bauer Radio UK was last week appointed a CBE at Buckingham Palace

Last Wednesday, as radio teams around the country received their latest audience results (RAJAR Q4 2019), Dee Ford, Group Managing Director, Bauer Radio was presented with a CBE medal from the Prince of Wales in an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Dee was awarded the title for services to Radio, having been named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Others receiving honours included Knighted former health minister, Sir Norman Lamb and former de facto deputy Sir David Lidington for their political and public services.

Dee has been at the helm of Bauer Radio UK since 1998. Under her leadership, Bauer has achieved continual growth through rapid digital innovation, growing its listenership to 18.2 million and achieving record-breaking digital reach.

Having started her career in sales, Dee climbed through senior positions within a number of newspaper, magazine and radio groups. In 1998 Dee was promoted to Group MD Emap Radio, leading the acquisition of Melody Radio, (now Magic Radio) and doubling the size of the radio business in 2005 through the acquisition of Scottish Radio Holdings.

With a passionate and continued commitment to product innovation, Dee has fostered the dynamic teams responsible for world-famous brands such as Absolute Radio, KISS, Magic Radio and the Hits Radio Network. In addition, Dee has overseen the pioneering launches of digital stations, including Scala Radio and Country Hits Radio, as well as the continued success of No.1 all-digital radio commercial station, KISSTORY.
