Free Radio Birmingham announce new breakfast show for 2018

Free Radio Birmingham today announced an exciting new breakfast show, launching in 2018.The new show will feature Birmingham personalities Tim Warwood and Lauren Crace.

Tim is known as the presenter of Wild! on CBBC and co-host of Red Bull’s spectacular Soapbox series on Dave. Actress Lauren has starred in hit TV shows Eastenders and Mr Selfridge and will soon appear in a joint ITV & Amazon production of Vanity Fair.

Tim Warwood said “this is a dream come true – waking up the city I grew up in is such a privilege” and Lauren added “I’m a born and bred Brummie and I am so proud to call this city my home. I cannot wait to get started, bab!”

Completing the new show line up is newsreader Mitch Rushton and local comedian Lovdev Barpaga, who was crowned 2017’s King of Puns at the recent UK Pun Championships.

It’s more than 15 years since a Brummie hosted the breakfast show on Birmingham’s most famous frequency, but with this launch there’ll be four at once.

Free Radio Content Director David Salt said “Free Radio has an ambition to be number one in Birmingham, a city in the ascendency. We want to match the success of this great city by delivering a breakfast show that truly represents it – we can’t wait to hear it”.

As part of the changes, Dan Kelly will stay with the station as the new host for The Home Run and Naomi Kent also leaves the show and will remain in the Bauer family.

Other moves for the Free Radio schedule include Andy Goulding moving from his show in Birmingham to present The Home Run across Coventry & Warwickshire, whilst David Francis takes the same shift across Wolverhampton, The Black Country and Shropshire.

Commenting on the changes, Free Radio’s Regional Content Director, Mike Newman said “These changes further display our ambition for Free Radio to be the number one commercial station in each of our West Midlands’ TSAs”

The schedule changes in Birmingham will happen on January 22nd 2018
