Absolute Radio and Wickes join forces to benefit local food bank

Absolute Radio and Wickes have joined forces to provide one worthy community project with a £10,000 renovation.
The Bassetlaw Food Bank which is based in Worksop was crowned the winner after a national search on the Dave Berry Breakfast show. The project works in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council to help those who are currently in need of assistance across the Bassetlaw District. Powered by a team of volunteers, in 2019, the food bank supported more than 1,700 households with emergency food parcels.
Ellen Ryan, Assistant Manage from Bassetlaw Food Bank said, “Bassetlaw Food Bank are thrilled to be getting this support from Absolute Radio and Wickes, it will get our Community Hub off to a really strong start and help us support families in Bassetlaw at risk of, or experiencing, food insecurity.”
The centre will get a £10,000 renovation courtesy of Wickes. When it’s completed, the Dave Berry Breakfast Show will be heading along to broadcast live from the venue as part of the re-opening celebrations.
Shelley Allison, Head of Marketing, Wickes said, “We’re so delighted to be able to make a real impact to such a deserving organisation. We can’t wait to see the transformation and celebrate with the team when it’s finished.”
To make a material difference in local communities, Wickes launched its Community Programme, a dedicated production donation fund available for local organisations to access when in need of a little help for renovating or maintaining communal spaces. To find out which types of groups can be supported visit the Wickes website or you can speak to a colleague directly in-store.
