Bauer Media celebrates successful evening at BSME Awards 2023

Bauer Publishing UK marked another triumphant night at the prestigious BSME Awards 2023 at a glamorous awards ceremony at The Rosewood Hotel in London.  

Four leaders from across Bauer UK’s portfolio of brands were honoured for their editorial excellence and innovation across digital and print publications.

Empire’s Nick de Semlyen was crowned Editor of the Year – TV, Entertainment & Celebrity with judges stating that “after joining Empire just weeks before the Covid pandemic de Semlyen has since shown exceptional leadership by pivoting the magazine to engage with its audience authentically through its innovative VIP Club, four podcasts and unrivalled and premium editorial exclusives.”’s Keith Adams was honoured with Editor of the Year – Motoring with judges highlighting how Keith “has modernised an established title, making it accessible and perfectly in tune with its audience’s demands.”

Another victory for Empire came as Chris Lupton was awarded Art Director of the Year – Consumer with judges expressing how “Empire’s creativity continually raises the bar, with its covers so often the most talked about in the industry. Combined with the highest standard of photography and a magazine that flows well from start to finish, Empire is the complete creative package.”
Polly Vernon from Grazia was declared Columnist of the Year – Consumer with judges stating, “taking readers on a journey through the window of her own experiences, from being fond of her Britishness to the grey areas of late term abortion, Polly Vernon encapsulates life in contemporary UK with unassailable charisma, glowing empathy and a shrewd intelligence that is at once engaging and informative.” 

Speaking on the awards success, Chris Duncan, CEO of UK Publishing said: “Congratulations to the exceptional individuals behind our magazine brands whose dedication and creativity have once again been recognised.
