Magic Classical and Dogs Trust curate classical canine station for your pets

Following on from the success of last year’s Calming Pet Sounds playlist, Magic Classical, in partnership with Dogs Trust, have put their best paw forward and created an entire radio station dedicated to calming your canine during Bonfire Night week.
Launching on Saturday 1st November Calming Pet Sounds will be available for the next seven days, playing soothing, gentle orchestral pieces, designed to calm pets – and comfort their owners – during noisy firework displays. Classical music lovers, and their dogs, can expect to hear pieces ranging from Debussy’s Clair de Lune  to The Beatles with Yesterday performed by Manuel Barrueco on the guitar.
The station can be found on the Rayo app, available on iOS and Android; online at hellorayo.co.uk and on your smart speaker; and is available exclusively to all Rayo Premium subscribers. Rayo Premium lets you listen to live radio without ad breaks and access hundreds of exclusive stations. Magic Classical are also offering a three-month free trial to all new subscribers using the code PETS25 when they sign up.

According to Dogs Trust’s National Dog Survey—the largest of its kind—45% of dog owners say their pets show signs of stress or discomfort when fireworks go off.

Hannah Harris, Behaviour Policy Manager at Dogs Trust, said: ‘Unfortunately, while they are enjoyable for many people, the loud noises and bright flashes of fireworks can be very overwhelming for dogs, often triggering signs of fear and anxiety. A calm and supportive environment can make a significant difference in how well a dog copes during this time of year, and playing calming music can go a long way in helping both dogs and their owners feel relaxed.

‘Staying in, closing the curtains, keeping calm and listening to distracting music may help dogs feel more relaxed during fireworks, so our feel-good playlist is filled with songs to help soothe the whole family. The background noise can also help mask the sound of fireworks outside while also reducing stress within the home, but please remember to play it at a comfortable volume!’
