Sally Aitchison MBE, Managing Director of Bauer Media’s Cash for Kids was today awarded with The Radio Academy’s highest honour for her dedication and contribution to the world of radio and broadcasting and Christian O’Connell, Absolute Radio Breakfast Host, was presented with a Gold Award.
To commemorate the 100-year anniversary of female suffrage in the UK, The Radio Academy has chosen an all-female list to receive its highly prestigious Fellowship award, announced today (May 15th) at Radio Festival.
Sally Aitchison MBE, Siobhan Kenny and Caroline Raphael were the three recipients, awarded with The Radio Academy’s highest honour for their dedication and contribution to the world of radio and broadcasting.
Roger Cutsforth, CEO of The Radio Academy said: “These three fantastic women have each contributed enormously to the radio industry over the years and we are delighted to recognise that contribution in this most significant of years, the 100-anniversary of female suffrage in the UK.”
Christian O’Connell, Breakfast Host on Absolute Radio, was also given a Gold Award from The Radio Academy today.
The honour was announced by Claire Sturgess during an interview at The Radio Festival and presented by O’Connell’s co-host, Richie Firth.
The award adds to his numerous radio awards he’s won during his illustrious career to date and to his induction to the Radio Academy Hall of Fame which he received in 2014.
This week marks O’Connell’s last week on air after 12 years at Absolute Radio as him and his family have decided to move to Australia.
