The TV Choice Awards 2018

We are proud to announce that The TV Choice Awards 2018 will take place at The Dorchester on Park Lane, London, on Monday 10th September.

We are also delighted to say that last year’s host, Richard Osman, will be returning to again preside over events. As the stars of the nation’s favourite shows gather to celebrate another cracking year of TV, we are expecting our 22nd Awards ceremony to be a truly memorable night!

Richard said: “I’m so excited to be hosting the TVChoice Awards once again, it’s going to be another incredible evening. Last year was such great fun, telling jokes, meeting some amazing celebrities, and unsuccessfully flirting with all the hosts of ‘Loose Women’. I couldn’t wait to find out this year’s nominees!”

This really is the people’s choice, as 1.4m weekly readers of Britain’s best-selling magazine, TVChoice, pick their winners by voting online or via forms in the magazine.

As ever, there is a wealth of top TV and talent vying for votes. And there are certainly some classy contenders in the Best New Drama category. Was the stylish McMafia your must see show of the year? Was Liar the series you couldn’t stop talking about? Maybe your favourite was Patrick Melrose or a nomination from one of the streaming services, such as Safe on Netflix.

When it comes to our awards for acting, will this be the year Cillian Murphy snatches the trophy for his star turn as Peaky Blinders’ Tommy Shelby? Is there going to be another TVChoice Award heading home with Sarah Lancashire, for her performance in Kiri?

Our Best Food Show category always serves up some tasty nominees. Last year Gino D’Acampo won for his Italian Escape. Will his latest trip to his beloved Italy see him take away more silverware? He’ll face tough competition from the likes of The Hairy Bikers, Nigella and Jamie Oliver – not to mention the fact that James Martin’s ITV programme is now up against his old show, Saturday Kitchen!

The soaps keep us tuning in every week, thanks to gripping storylines and stunning performances. No doubt there will be some tough battles for this year’s trophies, but we’ll have to wait until the big night to see which show scoops the top prize, when it is crowned Best Soap.

Last year saw the likes of David Tennant, Mary Berry, Phillip & Holly and Paul O’Grady all take to the stage to claim prizes. Who’ll be raising a glass in celebration in 2018?

Voting opens on Tuesday 15th May and viewers have until midnight on 1st June to cast their first round votes at www.tvchoicemagazine.co.uk or by post. Shortlist nominations will be announced in late June, when voting will re-open.
