Today’s Golfer publishes first ever ‘Top 100 Greenest Courses Europe’

Coinciding with World Environment Day, Today’s Golfer have published the first ever Top 100 Greenest Golf Course in Europe list.

In association with GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf, the international not-for-profit founded to strengthen and promote golf’s social and environmental value, The Green 100 provides an important opportunity to promote some of Europe’s most environmentally conscious and socially responsible golf courses.

Profiling clubs that are working to deliver fantastic golf whilst also caring for their local landscapes and biodiversity, actively strengthening their communities and taking action to reduce adverse climate impacts, the list is a celebration of the success stories that golfers should be proud of.

Chris Bertram, Top 100 Editor states “‘Golf’s environmental reputation is often unfairly demonised, but this list highlights the valuable and impressive sustainable efforts that are taking place across Europe. Published to coincide with World Environment Day, I want this ranking to demonstrate that golf is a sport with an ecological conscience, and that there are hundreds of ingenious ways clubs are making a real difference. Recognition as a World Top 100 course or a GB&I Top 100 course is a great honour, but being recognised as a Top 100 ‘Green’ club is, in my view, even more impressive.”

The feature includes columns from former English professional golfer Sir Nick Faldo, Norwegian professional golfer Suzann Pettersen and world-renowned course designer David McKlay Kidd.

The full list can be found in the latest issue of Today’s Golfer and online at https://www.todays-golfer.com/courses/best/eco-friendly-golf-courses/.
