The first round votes have been counted. Now it’s time to reveal which TV favourites will be stepping onto the red carpet at The Dorchester on Monday 10^th September, as the shortlist for the TV Choice Awards 2018 is unveiled. 

We’re delighted to be welcoming back last year’s host, Pointless star Richard Osman, who’ll again take charge of our prize giving ceremony. And once the trophies have been handed out, the stars of British TV will be celebrating their wins into the small hours. 

It’s never won so far, but with three nominations including Best Actor and Best Actress, could this be the year those rogues from Peaky Blinders swoop in and grab a haul of prizes? It will face tough opposition in the Best Drama Series category, where the Birmingham-based drama comes up against former winners Poldark and Doctor Foster along with the Amazon Prime Video smash hit Outlander.

Best New Drama sees a fierce battle too. ITV’s Liar was true watercooler TV, while voters also decided that C4’s school drama Ackley Bridge is a class act. 

While much-loved shows make it on to the shortlist year after year, it’s always good to see new arrivals on our list of nominees. This year The Martin Lewis Money Show makes its first appearance on our list, as does Long Lost Family. 

As ever, the action in soapland has been nonstop and the nation’s favourite stars will be hoping to scoop acting honours on the night. Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale are all represented in the Newcomer and Soap Actor and Actress categories while Hollyoaks join them to battle for the Best Soap trophy. 

Whoever triumphs on the night, you can be sure that showbiz’s most watched stars and major players will be there when the TVChoice Awards are handed out at The Dorchester on Monday 10^th September.
