Hands up how many of us have dreamt of having or own radio show? A chance to sit in a studio and wax lyrical about our favourite songs and artists to an attentive audience. Or even better what about having an entire radio station created in your honour?

That’s exactly what Absolute Radio has offered to one of its very lucky listeners, Kevin McIlmurray a 47-year-old dad from Ewell. He beat off competition from hundreds of other entries to win radio’s most innovative competition.

Absolute Radio is famous for its spin-off stations including the hugely popular Absolute 80s, Absolute Classic Rock and Absolute Radio Country, and Kevin’s winning idea is to create a new one dedicated to playing the very best debut singles and songs from debut albums.

Explaining what people can expect from his station, Kevin explained, “Anything from Oasis right through to Shaggy and ‘Oh Carolina’. It’s all those debut songs, debut albums, everything. Those memories of songs gone past and the stories behind them.”

Kevin, who usually spends his days working as a Guest Relations Manager at Chessington World of Adventures, will get to become a music producer, presenter and interviewer for the station as it launches from Friday 10th February. It will be available to all to until Monday 20th February after which it will be available as one of the exclusive Absolute Radio stations available to Premium subscribers. The competition was the brainchild of Absolute Radio Breakfast host Dave Berry, who left Kevin speechless when he revealed him as the winner on Friday (clip here).  Dave said, “To start a new year on my breakfast show exploring the creative genius of our listeners was a joy.
