Jazz FM Awards Returns in 2020
The Jazz FM Awards will return in 2020 for its 7th edition at Shoreditch Town Hall in London on Wednesday 27th May
Bauer Media has announced plans to launch a new radio station dedicated to music from the 2020s. As unveiled by the group’s President of Audio, Paul Keenan in a speech at Radio Days Ireland today; the new station from Absolute Radio is being launched as an exclusively digital offering, as part of Bauer Media’s digital audio innovation product strategy.
New music station, Absolute Radio 20s will play rock and alternative tracks from both established and emerging bands and artists, including Sam Fender, Lewis Capaldi, Blossoms, Courteeners, Freya Ridings, Haim, Michael Kiwanuka, Billie Eilish, Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, Circa Waves and more.
Listeners will be guided through the best new tracks by presenters Danielle Perry and Ross Buchanan – two new music aficionados well-known to audiences on the main Absolute Radio station. Mercury Music Prize judge and performer Danielle Perry has been bringing new and alternative music to Absolute Radio for the last five years, so will bring her expert understanding of the artists and their tracks to audiences. New-boy Ross Buchanan is the station’s main man on the red carpet for all the rowdy awards shows – from the BRITs to the Q Awards – and will deliver his unique take on the best new music.
Having launched Absolute Radio 10s in November 2019, this new station becomes the ninth station in Absolute Radio’s growing network. The station will feature the strapline, ‘New Music Matters’ evolved from the original station’s mantra that ‘Real Music Matters’. Biffy Clyro are set to be featured as the first guests on the station on launch day, joining Danielle Perry to talk about their new album.
Speaking about the launch, Paul Sylvester, Content Director for Absolute Radio said “Absolute Radio 20s is born out of insight and an understanding of our audiences, which has identified an opportunity for a distinctive new radio station currently not on offer. Set to be a haven for tastemakers who love to be the first to know about new music, this new launch offers something different for both new and existing listeners of the Absolute Radio family.”
Absolute Radio 20s will launch at 10am on Monday 24th February. Audiences can hear it on the Absolute Radio app, smart speakers and at absoluteradio.co.uk.
