Paramount Pictures UK have teamed up with KISS presenter Tyler West to celebrate the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in cinemas on Saturday 21st December, to set a brand-new Guinness World Records title.

Sonic is known for his super-speed and collecting gold rings, so in honour of the film’s cinematic release, the Home Straight presenter and his accomplice Maz the hula-hooping Majorette (Mariam Olayiwola) attempted the fastest time to catch 30 hula hoops (team of two). The challenge saw Tyler throwing hoops over for Maz the Majorette to catch round her torso without using her hands – at a minimum 1 metre distance. With only one attempt possible with a Guinness World Records official adjudicator present, the duo managed to secure the record in just 29 seconds – 16 seconds quicker than their goal.

The record-breaking challenge is part of KISS and Paramount Picture’s multi-phase campaign to entice audiences to run to cinemas to see Sonic the Hedgehog 3 this Christmas. As well as promoting the film on-air and on socials, the campaign will offer the chance for listeners to win their own Sonic inspired experience by playing ‘The Quiz the Gets Quicker’ live on-air on release day.
