Bauer Academy Announce ‘Bridging the Gap’ Training Initiative
The Bauer Academy has announced a ground-breaking new training programme; ‘Bridging the Gap’, in conjunction with Creative Skillset, the industry skills body for the Creative Industries.
Anyone living in England over the age of 19 (excluding those who are already in education) can apply to join the programme and the free training aims to equip people from all walks of life with the practical education and experience to break in to and develop their careers in the world of media and more specifically, print and digital publishing.
Bauer Academy’s Managing Director, Courtnay McLeod comments:
‘We already have a strong track record of delivering world-class training within the radio industry, and this is a natural evolution, allowing us to bring people inside Bauer Media, one of the world’s leading media and publishing houses, to help them gain invaluable experience, develop their careers and achieve their potential.’
Creative Skillset’s Partnership Manager for publishing Julie Hadwin adds: “ Its brilliant to be working with Bauer in publishing and extending opportunity and access into that sector.”
There are three key components of ‘Bridging the Gap’
Consumer understanding – a three month sales development programme which takes place in Peterborough, aimed at developing commercial capabilities in the media marketplace. Participants will hone their skills to deliver creative customer solutions, whilst being mentored by senior Bauer Media commercial leaders.
Publishing content in the digital world – an intensive, six day course delivered in London, which focuses on creating excellent creative content, with work shops and guest speakers imparting key editorial and production skills, incorporating the latest updates to digital technology and processes.
Personalised training – six candidates will be given the opportunity to tailor-make their own, Manchester or London- based publishing training, alongside world-class tutors who will support them in designing a five day course, taking in to account their individual experience and career ambitions.
