Ken Bruce receives MBE in King’s Birthday Honours List

Bauer Media Audio UK’s Ken Bruce has been awarded with an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for his services to radio, autism awareness and charity.

Ken is one of the UK’s most well-known and beloved media personalities, having been a fixture on national radio for almost 50 years. Ken recently moved to Bauer to front a new mid-morning show on Greatest Hits Radio, bringing with him the UK’s biggest music quiz – Popmaster. He joined the station at a time when Greatest Hits is enjoying its best ever listenership and the new show has already thrilled audiences across the country.

Ken comments, “This has come as a complete surprise, and it is an honour! I was utterly astonished that the invitation came through and very happy to accept. The MBE is something which I will treasure forever.

“I hope this will help to expand people’s awareness of autism, and that we all start to realise that autistic people have a great deal to offer.

“This will be my first meeting with the King, but I’ve been led to believe that people at the palace have heard me on Greatest Hits, so maybe it will be a catch-up.”

First established by King George V in 1917, MBEs are awarded for an outstanding achievement or service to the community which has had a long-term, significant impact.
